Caspian gaze pierced through the mist, and what he saw froze him in hideous terror! A ship. No it was to big to be a ship.
It was a Behemoth.
It was the Vindication.
Screams rang out as oars rose and fell, propelling the far away but coming quickly Vindication forward with a tremendous speed. Red and black archer's stood ready on not two but three raised platforms! There was a trumpet blast. The archers rose their bows and fired a hail of death into the sky. Luke desperately brought an arrow to the string and fired. It whizzed through the arrow storm and struck on archer, who tumbled overboard with a scream. One down, ninety nine to go. Caspian leaped through the air and caught Lydia's body in her hands, they plunged underneath he surface of the water, as three more bubbling darts pierced it with them. David, Luke, and John were safe. Arrows shot through the water around them, before cracking, or flipping and rising slowly to the surface. Caspian quickly strove to reach the surface, and he finally found it. He cast Lydia onto dry ground. She gasped for breath and coughed up water. Caspian bent over her worriedly. He pushed her stomach and a spurt of greenish water burst from her mouth.
"You saved my life," she choked as her brother, Luke, and John came out of the water,
"Back to the hut!" John ordered quickly, but it was to late. John's men were pouring out, grasping their weapons. They all raced down to odd shaped boats on the lake's surface.
"To the clipper!" Tage called, racing out of the hut. Caspian draped Lydia over his shoulder and they all turned and dashed for the clipper. Caspian leaped on as Master Tage ducked through a door into the pilot's shed.
"To the armory!" John called. He plunged through a trap door and came up as the Clipper pulled away from the sandbar. He threw down an assortment of javelins and darts.
"This is going to be a tight squeeze, but we'll try to make it out of here alive," he said. Luke raced over to a large crossbow contraption on the nerve.
"It's about to get a little fiery," he called. Caspian carefully set the panting Lydia onto a barrel and turned. He saw the hordes of thieves trying to escape on their boats. They weren't' making it. A boat drifted past them. It was riddled with arrows and two men lay dead, covered with shafts. Lydia let out a choking cry and Caspian turned her away from it. He held her and whispered, "I'm not going to let them take you."
