Legends of Caspian: Minecar Chase

Caspian and Luke were shoved into the mine and the big man followed. He silently motioned them into a mine car nearby. A stone bridge crossed a dark chasm. Emplaced on the bridge were tracks. The bridge sloped downhill allowing the minecar to move.
"Get yer selves in der, an be quick about it!" the big man ordered. Luke and Caspian hastily complied. Suddenly a shout went up!
"I found 'em captain! Their getting away!" a soldier in red with black armor dashed through the mine entrance a sword in his hands. Suddenly there was a oud Twang! He halted and collapsed as a huge crossbow bolt zipped through him and smashed to a landing with a quiver into the stone wall. The big man leaped into the mine car and tried to untie it from a rope that kept it from going down the tracks. Soldiers were quickly filling up the mine and waving swords and spears. A few crossbow bolts zipped over there heads.
"Grrr," the big man growled as he tugged at the knot.
"Stand aside!" Caspian yelled he pushed the man out of his way and rose his sword! It shimmered in the torch light before falling like lightning on the rope! It snapped free and the mine car plunged away as if jubilant at being free! Caspian had fallen back into the mine car but he rose to his knees! Suddenly, another minecar was released and careened after them full of crossbow men! The big man grunted and using a handle attached to his crossbow, he wound it up to full strength. He placed a shaft int he crossbow, squinted as he aimed, and released! The huge bolt, as long as Caspian's leg, flew through the air and crashed through the mine car shattering it as if it was glass.
"Waste of a good minecar," the man commented grimly. "My names Lorg, what are you two fugitive's names?" The boys told him their names and showed them the rings Master Tage had given them. Lorg nodded approvingly. "Very good," he said as he lit a lamp he had found at the bottom of the mine car. The walls of the mine had narrowed and now there was a scarce inch from the racing minecars side, on one side that is. The other was another track. On that track was another mine car. On the minecar was crossbowmen! Thew! Thew! Thew! Three crossbow bolts landed in a row behind the mine car missing each time by just fractions of an inch.
"Were in trouble," Lorg growled threateningly. He picked up his huge crossbow and felt in his quiver. No arrows left.
